According to Dr. Robert Graves, EIVSOM Psychosocial Learning System begins with clarity—and a triangle. “The small triangle has three cornerstones: the why, the what, and the how,” he explains. At the heart of this sits the EIVSOM Model itself, crossing emotional intelligence with value systems to create a simple but powerful grid. This framework allows people to locate themselves—and others—in terms of how they think, feel, and decide. As Dr. Graves puts it, it’s “a very reductive way of explaining why things happen,” which is precisely what makes it so effective.



Inside that larger triangle lives a smaller one: the EIVSOM Method. This is where education, training, and support come together. Each serves a different purpose, but they’re inseparable. “If you’re being educated, you want to understand why things happen and what you can do. If you’re being trained, you want to know what to do and how to do it. And if you’re being supported, you want to understand why things happen and how you’re going to manage the situation,” says Dr. Graves. In other words, EIVSOM doesn’t tell people what to think—it helps them understand themselves well enough to act with intention.


Finally, there’s the Process—and yes, it’s a list. “I’m a big fan of lists; everybody should have one,” Dr. Graves admits. The EIVSOM Process walks individuals through understanding the model, the method, their own mental and physical condition, what motivates them, and the behaviors needed for achievement. The last step is refreshingly simple: “The final point is just to start and keep going.” When people build their own list, use the model, and follow a personalized curriculum designed around the EIVSOM triangle, the outcome is clear: progress, achievement, and meaningful success.
